Database Objectives BELUN would like to build upon its existing National Database through increased technical capacity and continued collaboration with a multiplicity of international and national NGOs, as well as CBOs at the local level, thereby providing a critical and professional information collection, analysis and dissemination service to Timor-Leste. BELUN would like to see the Database continue to contribute to the development of Timor-Leste, in accordance with the priorities of the President and the Government of Timor-Leste’s National Development Plan and subsequent Road Map, through increased community, government, and donor collaboration on conflict prevention/mitigation/ resolution and community development activities. Specifically, BELUN is working to achieve the following strategic objectives:
- Streamlined mechanisms for data collection and verification through the Database which can facilitate communication, coordination and joint planning among donor partners, UN agencies, governmental and non-governmental organizations;
- Increased community, government (local and national), and donor coordination toward the common goals of eradicating poverty and promoting human security in isolated communities across Timor-Leste;
How You Can Help
First, open/download Organization Contact Information (INGO's , LNGO's , CBO's , UN Agency and Bilateral ) and Organization Project Information (INGO's, LNGO's, CBO's, UN Agency and Bilateral) and access the information therein. Next, provide BELUN with updates, at your convenience. Some organizations provide project and/or contact lists monthly, some do so yearly. We want to know what you are doing in the field. After all, a database is only as good as the data that it stores. If organizations don’t share their work with us, there is no way to capture and document success. If you or your staff have any technical questions, our ICT Manager, Romaldo Caetano, is always available to help. He is available to give a DB presentation to any interested organization, and he can generate reports in Access with relative ease (e.g., agriculture projects in Ainaro; water projects in Lautem; women’s groups operating in the entire country, etc.). He can be reached at
